Design Engineer / Qualified Team Leader

Robert, a Michigan Licensed Professional Engineer, has over 10 years of design engineering experience.  He joined SCECO in 2010 after receiving his BSCE (2008) and MSCE (2009) from Michigan Technological University.  He has had a lead role in the design on over 30 bridge replacement or rehabilitation projects along with several road reconstruction projects.  His design specialties include structural analysis, hydraulics, foundation design, roadway geometry, and safety features.  He is well versed in the requirements associated with the design of federally-funded projects including AASHTO and MDOT design standards, environmental clearance and permitting and ADA compliance.

Robert also has FHWA-NHI training and 6 years’ experience as a Qualified Team Leader on in-service bridge safety inspections.  He has conducted over 2,000 in-service inspections for local agencies across Lower Michigan.  His inspection experience includes bridge load ratings, scour analysis, structural recommendations and project scoping.

Robert and his wife Annie have five kids, and they enjoy tent camping, backpacking and hiking as a family.  They are also very involved in their church where they both hold leadership positions in the areas of service and faith formation.
